State Cup / Presidents Cup Bracket FAQ

Can we move our game to a different date and location?

Yes – teams can mutually agree to play at a different location on a different date.
For matches that are moved, the games must be played PRIOR to the posted date unless otherwise allowed by Illinois Youth Soccer.

Please note that due to US Youth Soccer Corona-19 Virus Suspension of Play:  GAMES CAN NOT BE PLAYED  EARLIER THAN APRIL 15. This date is subject to change based on any other changes due to the virus concerns.  You can find more details here.

How do I move a match?

Once you and your opponent have mutually agreed to an alternative date time or location you must email all of the following to iysascheduling@gmail.com

  • Date – Remember you must play prior to the posted date unless you get approval from IYSA to play on the date posted
  • Age Group
  • Competition
  • Time
  • Location – Be specific include address and field number

For April 25-26 games, game changes must be submitted by April 6.
For May 16-17 games, game changes must be submitted by May 4.

I have another tournament on a date listed in Rockford but my opponent wont move the game, what happens then?

Games are to be played in Rockford unless both teams agree otherwise although IYSA reserves the right adjust schedules as needed.

How come my team has a * next to its name?

In your registration teams were asked which Cup path they wanted to participate in.

Teams marked with an * - listed they did not want to play Presidents Cup if eliminated prior to State Cup group play.

Teams marked with an # - listed they did not want to play Illinois Cup if eliminated prior to Presidents Cup group.

All teams were contacted multiple times to confirm the path they chose and no changes will be made to the brackets once posted.

My Open Cup game says Eliminated To Presidents Cup A by it, what does that mean?
This means that the loser of that game should find the corresponding color coded, Presidents Cup A listed on the Presidents Cup bracket and that is their next game in the tournament.

If two teams matched up both said they did not want to play Presidents Cup in their registration there will be no Presidents Cup number on their match-up listing.

How come some teams are right into group play and I have a play-in game?
Illinois Youth Soccer uses a combination of team rankings, based on teams advancing to the elimination rounds of the previous year’s Cup events, National or Regional Championships, Midwest Conference results and State Premiership Champions to seed teams directly into group play.

If after these rankings there are still open group play spots those are filled by a double blind draw.

What time is my game?
The brackets only show the match-ups and advancements of the tournament.

The GotSoccer schedules for each event will show the time and field for each game.

Game times for April 25-26 game in Rockford will be posted on April 9
Game times for May 16-17 games in Rockford will be posted by May 7.

In GotSoccer all matches show  "12pm or Earlier" or "12pm or Later" to give teams a time frame.
Teams do NOT agree to a time, IYSA assigns the time for the match.

Why don’t you post the times with the bracket?
Because we allow teams to move games away from Rockford, we do not post times to allow for schedule flexibility.  We don’t want to have 4 games scheduled at 8am if we have 4 field open at 10am due to teams moving their matches to an earlier date.

How come there is no definite date or time for the quarterfinals, semifinals or finals post?
Elimination round game schedules will be posted by April 15.  There are many high school and 8th grade graduation during the time of year the quarters, semis, and finals are held. In an effort to avoid potential conflicts we allow teams to submit graduation conflicts by April 6, this way we can see which age groups may have the most impact and can try and schedule accordingly. That being said, we may not be able to avoid all graduations and come conflicts may still happen.

You can find the complete details about how to submit your graduation info here.
