Each month Illinois Youth Soccer will honor a deserving  Recreational Coach. Monthly honorees also earn a nomination for the Sports Authority Coach Of The Year.

Monthly award nominations are due no later than the 24th of each month

 

April Sports Authority Recreational Coach Of The Month

 

William Frericks
Richmond Spring Grove Soccer Association

A native of Wisconsin, Coach Willy Frericks was was a collegiate hockey player from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Now an “E” licensed soccer coach, Frericks is a father of four young female athletes and a great role model for youth players. He currently coaches a recreational U8/9 co-ed team and a competitive U10 female team. His passion for the game and player development is one of the reasons why parents and players alike request to have him as their coach. His training structure is aimed to build team confidence and promote fun. He is a fantastic motivator who can relate to each player in different ways to give them the confidence to try new things on the field outside of their comfort zones. His “development over winning” philosophy coupled with his motivating guidance has helped each of his teams improve while enjoying and learning the game of soccer.

Amy Cleland
Perry County Soccer League

Coach Cleland always goes out of her way to help the kids and always let's other kids practice with her even if they are not on her team. She is always trying to learn new drills and things to work with the kids to improve their skill and love of soccer.

Peter Roth
Prairie Cities Soccer League

A longtime supporter of Prairie Cities Soccer League and their philosophies, Peter Roth has actively coached and refereed in PCSL for many years. Like many coaches, Coach Roth started coaching his own children and now coaches his grandchildren. Currently, for the Fall 2015/Spring 2016 season he is coaching 2 teams – U6 Boys & U10 Girls.

Fox River Grove Rec Council
According to parents of her players, Coach Bennett ability to help players' self-confidence and having fun while playing makes her stand out. Actively involved in the community off the pitch, in addition to her full time job, Susan is also a Cub Scout Den leader and school room mom
